FOR EA-21 |
These actuators are low cost actuators, primarily meant
for use on Ball Valves upto 1.1/2" (40 mm) size and
Plastic Ball Valves upto 2" (50 mm) size, Butterfly Valves
Rubberlined upto 2” (50mm) size and Low
Leakage Type Butterfly Valves upto 6" (150 mm) size.
Maximum operating temperature is limited to (-)10°C to
(+)55°C and maximum torque of this actuator is 20
NM. The actuator is fitted with Electrical circuit
incorporating Two fuses, which are just suitable for motor
rating. Incase of blown off fuses, use 1 ampere glass
fuses. The actuator is suitable for 220/240V AC 50 Hz
supply and actuator is intermittent rated for 50% duty
cycles only. Two Plastic Weatherproof cable glands
have been provided: One is to be used for Electric supply
and also for output of limit switches. The Other
cable gland is to be used for output of Electronic Circuit, if
provided. Motor can be supplied with 2-Nos. additional
limit switches as optional.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For this Actuator Angle of rotation is
pre-set to 91.1/2°. Limit switches are pre-set to
90° rotation. For 180° rotation, special order is required
to be placed. 90° rotation actuator cannot be converted
to 1800 rotation or 180° rotational actuator cannot be
convered to 90° rotation.
The Potentiometer,(only in “E” model ) is non- polarised
and suitable for use on Electronic Digital Circuit only,
which has 0.5% linearity error.
INSTALLATION : While installing this actuator on the
valve, special care is required to be taken to check,
valve operation should coincide with actuator operation.
Normally Ball Valve or Butterfly Valve is placed
at “Closed” position. Actuator should be turned
electrically in such a way that, the actuator position
indicator is horizontal and indicating valve closed
position. Fix the Actuator in the Ball Valve or Butterfly
Valve, with the help of suitable bracket and adapter
(Avcon has many options to offer, ready made brackets
and adapters). After connecting the actuator,
mechanically put the actuator in manual mode, by turning
clutch to manual mode and forcing indicator knob turning
clockwise. See by hand Ball Valve or Butterfly Valve
should rotate. Now manual override clutch should be put
to Auto mode and connect electrical wiring to connecting
point no. (2) and point no.(3), to close the valve. When
the valve has closed fully and if hear still motor
running noise, immediately remove electrical
connection. Now adjust limit switch cams, so that limit
switches contact is broken fully. Once again connect the
actuator electrically and check the contact is broken
stopping the movement of motor. Failure to recognize
cracking of close limit switches, will results in burning
'out of motor. Now, open the valve fully by connecting
point no.(1)and point no.(3), indicator should come in
parallel with pipeline and once again, if required, adjust
the limit switch. Now, setting of this actuator is
over. In case where additional limit switches are
provided, adjust the limit switch cams by using external
circlip nose plyer and moving the cams in the required
direction. Point no.(4) and point no.(5) are provided
for connecting into Control Panel lines or other ancilliary
equipment power supply. Point no.(7),Point no.(8)and point no.(9) are provided for Potentiometer Connecting
point no.(7) and point no.(8), when the valve is inclosed
position, will indicated “0".Connecting point
no.(7) and point no.(8), when the valve is open, will
indicate full value of potentiometer. |
|
FAULT FINDING: The Valve and actuator should be
aligned very properly using adaptor which has practically
no back-lash.If after giving power to the actuator,
actuator does not move, first of all, check up the power
supply, neutral and earth connection properly.
Connecting lamp between point no. (3) and point no.
(2 & 1) if glows fully, power supply is alright.
Check up for blown fuses from the PCB board.
Motor is intermittent rated, for 50% duty. If motor is
heated extensively (temperature above 80°C cannot be
touched by finger), this means the actuator is being
energised too frequently, reduce the number of pulses
given to the actuator.
Perhaps actuator is experiencing higher torque then
designed for Check up the size of the valve. Also
remove the actuator and move the valve by hand
lever. If cannot be moved by hand lever, then clean
the valve by disassembling, re-fit the valve and actuator.
Valve is leaking - Valve leakage may attribute to: Worn
out packing or loose fitting or damaged plug portion.
Change the appropriate parts with new parts. If the
valve travel is inadequate, readjust the limit switch. It
is rarely experienced that, this actuator is required to
be removed, disassembled and assembled, but if such
case arises, Contact AVCON for instructions.
In case Potentiometer does not show “0" (zero) and
full value, at the close and open position respectively,
re-adjust the potentiometer, with the help of multi-meter,
using resistance measurement only.
In case where Interface type MA512AN is supplied and
actuator operation is found problematic, please refer
to the appropriate Instruction Manual.
Overload can happen due to following few reasons :
The easiest and most simple way to check up wether
torque of the valve is suitable for the actuator or not, is
to put the actuator in Manual mode, rotate the valve
holding position indicator and turning it by hand. Do not
use any lever or spanner. If the valve is in a position to
rotate easily, this indicates the valve torque is
appropriate for the actuator torque. The other reason
could be extensive valve load reduce the size of the
valve. Valve packing glands too tight: check the proper
torque is adjusted while assembling the valve.
Improperly lubricated valve, use proper lubrication.
Motor capacitor is burnt out, replace motor capacitor. If
temperature is 50OC, motor will stop perating or malfunction.
Motor is heating and valve cycling is to often, reduce cycles.
Correct working voltage: Voltage
should be 230V +/- 10%, 50 Hz AC Incorrect Wiring:
Use proper size of wires. If Ball Valve or Butterfly Valve
or Plug Valve does not close properly, check up if there
is obstacle entrapped between the valve body and plug; remove obstacle. Even after checking everything,
actuator does not run, this indicates the gears are worn
out of broken; replace the gear train. If the actuator is
used in extreme humid atmosphere, use space heater
with thermostat is recommended. Contact AVCON for
information. |
